Portland has a lot of skateparks. I know because every time I tell someone I live here, they inform me, oh, you guys have so many awesome skateparks. It’s neat. It’s also cool when it fails to snow much, because it’s dry and at least you can skate. And as of last week, we have a new one. The Ed Benedict Skate Plaza is out there on SE Powell, somewhere around 120nd ave. It’s far out, unless of course you live in deep South East. But enough rambling. Here are some pictures.
This section of the park is like choose your own adventure. There are several options for how extreme you want to get.
This is the “transition” section. It is fun, but the pool coping is unnecessary. Also, hopefully they add decks soon.
This dude yelled at me to get out of his way. Then he did a move on this super long rail.
The good news is, Glenhaven should be empty.
I really don’t know what to say about this weird tear drop thing.
The view from the west.
Boxes and ledges oh my!
Another strange obstacle, potentially cool, potentially wack.
It was nice of them to put a rump for me next to the stairs.
Maybe people really do like to skate weird shit. This whole park and these dudes were sessioning the rocks.
