It’s cool when ski areas support snowboarding and actually let people who snowboard promote them. Then you end up with websites like ltpark.com and the above video. But since you guys will probably all balk at the skier shots, we figured a little interview with LT Park’s Will Moss was in order.

YoBeat: Who is the LT Park Crew?

Will: The LT Park Crew is a loose affiliation of snow sliders living in western Montana’s Bitterroot Valley and recreating at Lost Trail Powder Mountain. We build parks with limited resources and have fun on other people’s dimes. We try to positively combine the rural, laid-back attitude of the ski hill with (our manifestation of) freestyle culture for the benefit of all.

YoBeat: What’s up with the skiers in your crew? Do you at least make fun of them for holding polls when they hit rails?

Will:
Our “Skier Buddies” are good, kind souls who are always available to hook up a sling in the flats. We laugh at them a lot. They are usually wasted. And for some reason, they do all the shoveling now.

Where exactly is Lost Trail?

Will: LT is located, basically, in the middle of nowhere. We’re on the Montana/Idaho border, about 45 miles in either direction from the nearest population centers (Hamilton, MT, and Salmon, ID). Five slow-ass double chairlifts and a bunch of local beer on tap. Whole mountain is powered by diesel generators.

Full disclosure: Are you guys sanctioned by Lost Trail or just really, really into the place?

Will: We are (surprisingly enough, and for how long) fully sanctioned by the mountain’s owners and management. I get my season pass to do just this … build, shred and document. We are also probably just somewhat unreasonably into LT. Most of the crew is born/raised in the valley and has been riding LT for life.

How has Montana season been thus far?

Will: Montana has been whackattack this season. No snow and super cold. I’m going to start cutting myself if it doesn’t snow.

How likely is it that if we show up at Lost Trail they will give us tickets? (Read: is it corpo or a mom a pop shop?)

Will: Comped tickets for sure. It doesn’t get any more mom & pop than LT.
