Yobeat’s Year in Review – April-May 2014

aprilmay

With 12 months in the year, we figured we’d better speed this process up by combining some months. So here is the conclusion of Spring 2014.

First off, April Fools Day is scary on the Internet, as every is trying to prank you. However, it was no prank that Windells and High Cascade merged to create a Mt. Hood Super camp, with the unfortunate acronym “WAC.” Random Trollhaugen kids kill it.  Triple Corks are still a thing. The Yawgoons try to get free beer.  Seb Toots drops his street part and it gets a fuck ton of views, but we like the reedit better.

Mike Rav owns flopping around on the ground. The Holy Bowly brings together everyone we like for an “international gathering of creativity and flow” at Park City. Don’t call it a contest. The high Noon Duel was a contest though, and it looked radical. Travis Rice names his top ten boarders and everyone argues about that for awhile. The Canadians’ rap about snowboarding.

Resorts close for the season, but its announced Hawk Island will close for good. Electric gets in some hot water while Airblaster keeps things fun. X Games add “major league gaming” which prompts Oliver to ask, what’s next!? Finally, Tim Eddy is one radical dude.

Now May might not seem like a big month for snowboarding, but it is! However, it’s also the time when snowboarders start trying to skate, again. Shaun White goes to prom and Barry O is down with Jamie Anderson. Riding moguls is surprisingly awesome. Chicks are hard. Tres Hard.

Superpark happens in our backyard. But we decide not to work too hard.  Jake and Donna agree and take a step back at Burton. Jake Kuzyk’s skate video is legit and snowboarding’s obsession with Coon Boy begins. GoPro goes public. Park City loses its lease and we are too obsessed with Tinder to care.

As the month closes up, we have to ask, is Crystal Mountain really trying to ban snowboarding? But, now it’s summer, so who cares!?
